FARA Executive Committee

FARA is led by a president and an executive committee that are elected by the FARA membership.

The 2007-2008 President of FARA is Alan Hauser, FAR at Appalachian State University. Alan is Professor of Biblical Studies at Appalachian, where he has taught since 1972, having completed his doctorate at the University of Iowa. He has been FAR at Appalachian since 1986, and has served on numerous Southern Conference and NCAA committees, including the Division I Management Council (1997-2001) and the Academics, Eligibility, and Compliance Cabinet (2001-2007), which he chaired from 2003-2005. He is currently a member of the Men's Basketball Academic Enhancement Group, and recently served on the Baseball Academic Enhancement Working Group. Hauser is the Senior Editor of the international journal Currents in Biblical Research, and has published several books, including A History of Biblical Interpretation: The Ancient Period, and A History of Biblical Interpretation: The Medieval and Reformation Eras (in press). Hauser joined the FARA Executive Committee in January 2006.

Hauser assumed his presidency in November 2007. The next president of FARA will be Roger Caves, the faculty athletics representative at San Diego State University.
