2010 FARA Annual Meeting and Symposium
The 2010 FARA Annual Meeting and Symposium was held in Baltimore, Maryland, November 11-13. The theme of Three Divisions – One Association was developed throughout the meeting. The Meeting was opened with a presentation by new NCAA President Mark Emmert, who assured FARs that their contributions to college athletics were important and needed. Dr. Emmert took several questions from the audience. The keynote address was presented by Dr. Brit Kirwin, Chancellor of the University of Maryland system and Co-Chair of the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics. Dr. Kirwin spoke the Knight Commission’s report, Restoring the Balance: Dollars, Values, and the Future of College Sports. The FARA David Knight Service Award was presented to Kevin Lennon, NCAA Vice President for Academic and Membership Affairs. The NCAA Walter Byers Award was presented to Katie Theisen, former cross country and track and field athlete at St. Thomas University, and Josh Mahoney, a former middle linebacker on the Northern Iowa football team, at the FARA Awards Dinner, while Ana Sebescen from Coppin State University was awarded the Jim McKay Scholarship.

2009 FARA Annual Meeting and Symposium
The 2009 FARA Annual Meeting and Symposium was held in St. Louis, Missouri, November 12-14. The theme of Enhancing Partnerships Between Academics and Athletics was developed throughout the meeting. The keynote address was presented by Dr. Sidney McPhee, President of Middle Tennessee State University. Bernard Franklin, Executive Vice President for Governance and Membership at the NCAA national office was a featured speaker at the event. The FARA David Knight Service Award was announced, which had been presented earlier in the year to Dr. Myles Brand, previous president of the NCAA. Dr. Franklin accepted the award for Dr. Brand. The NCAA Walter Byers Award was presented to Amy Massey, who played soccer at Southern California, and Craig Sheedy, a diver at Arizona, at the FARA Awards Dinner, while Anna Rynarzewska from Florida State University and Brian Brunner from Central Michigan University were awarded the Jim McKay Scholarship.


2008 FARA Annual Meeting and Symposium
The 2008 FARA Annual Meeting and Symposium was held in San Diego, California, November 13-15. The theme of Enhancing the Student-Athlete Experience was developed throughout the meeting. Myles Brand, president of the NCAA, was a featured speaker at the event. Other speakers included Charlotte Westerhaus from the NCAA National Office and the keynote address was delivered by Ann Meyers Drysdale.  The FARA David Knight Service Award was presented to Lorrie Clemo, FAR at SUNY-Oswego, and The NCAA Walter Byers Award was presented to Dylan Carney of Stanford University and Brenna Burns of Davidson College at the FARA Awards Dinner.

2007 FARA Annual Meeting and Symposium
The 2007 FARA Annual Meeting and Symposium, previously called the FARA Fall Forum, was held in Baltimore, Maryland, November 8-10. The theme of Faculty Engagement was developed throughout the meeting. Myles Brand, president of the NCAA, was a featured speaker at the event. Other speakers included Georgetown University President Jack DeGioia and Ted Leland from the University of the Pacific.  The FARA David Knight Service Award was presented to Julie Cromer of the NCAA, and The NCAA Walter Byers Award was presented to Katie Kingsbury of Washington & Lee University and Dane Todd of University of Nebraska at the FARA Awards Dinner.


2006 FARA Fall Forum
The 2006 FARA Fall Forum was held in New Orleans, Louisiana, November 16-18. The theme of Empowering the FAR was developed throughout the meeting. Myles Brand, president of the NCAA, was a featured speaker at the event. The keynote address was delivered by past-NCAA President Ced Dempsey.  The FARA David Knight Service Award was presented to Ced Dempsey, and The NCAA Walter Byers Award was presented to Ann Bersagel of Wake Forest University and Bryan Norrington of Colorado College at the FARA Awards Dinner.

While in New Orleans, the FARA Executive Committee presented a check for $4000 to New Orleans City Park Director of Development John Hopper to assist with the rebuilding of the park, which was under as much as eight feet of water in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. 2005 FARA Fall Forum
The 2005 FARA Fall Forum was held in San Diego, California, November 10-12. Myles Brand, president of the NCAA, was a featured speaker at the event. Other speakers included Kathy DeBoer, formerly of the University of Kentucky, Rosie Stallman of the NCAA, and Janet Judge, an attorney from Portland, Maine.  The FARA David Knight Service Award was presented to Mike Miranda of SUNY-Plattsburgh, and The NCAA Walter Byers Award was presented to Sarah Dance of Truman State University and Matthew Gunn of University of Arkansas at the FARA Awards Dinner.


2004 FARA Fall Forum
The 2004 FARA Fall Forum was held in Washington, DC, November 11-13. Myles Brand, president of the NCAA, was a featured speaker at the event. Other speakers included Senator Richard Lugar of Indiana and Congressman Tom McMillan of Maryland.  The FARA David Knight Service Award was presented to Diane Husic of East Stroudsburg University, and The NCAA Walter Byers Award was presented to Corrin Drakulich of University of Georgia and Joaquin Zalacain of University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras at the FARA Awards Dinner.


2003 FARA Fall Forum
The 2003 FARA Fall Forum was held in New Orleans, Louisiana, November 20-22. Myles Brand, president of the NCAA, was a featured speaker at the event. The FARA David Knight Service Award was presented to Karen Cooper of the NCAA and Jerry Kingston of University of Arizona at the FARA Awards Dinner.


About the 2002 FARA Fall Forum
The 2002 FARA Fall Forum was held in Long Beach, California, November 14-16. Ced Dempsey, president of the NCAA, was a featured speaker at the event. The keynote address was delivered by Linda Bensel-Meyers of the Drake Group.


About the 2001 FARA Fall Forum
The 2001 FARA Fall Forum was held in San Diego, California, November 15-17. Speakers included Rick Bay of San Diego State University and Kevin Weiberg of the Big 12 Conference.
