The FAR will advise the President of the University on matters related to the intercollegiate athletic program.  As a senior advisor to the Athletic Director and the President, the FAR should be involved in developing institutional positions on NCAA legislation or other matters related to intercollegiate athletics on campus.

The FAR will serve on the University’s Committee on Athletics and on the Title IX committee.  The FAR should participate in the interview process for all new positions in coaching or in athletic administration.  In addition, the FAR will assist in monitoring progress on the NCAA Certification plan.  The FAR will represent the institution in NCAA and conference meetings.

The FAR should be provided institutional support to assist in the fulfillment of these responsibilities.  This should include a minimum of release time for two classes (6 hours) per year and resources to travel  to appropriate NCAA and conference meetings.  Additional support such as access to student records  or secretarial support should be provided on an “as needed” basis.
